Operation OC
OperationOC is Orange County’s collaborative private/public partnership to meet the needs of the evacuees of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita relocating to Orange County. As of Monday, October 17, OperationOC’s Resource and Assessment Center at the Village of Hope (located at Tustin Legacy) has provided services to 520 evacuees from 229 families. 351 evacuees have returned for additional services. Orange County’s totals (which include the evacuees counted above), as reported by the Orange County American Red Cross, are 494 families representing 1,000 evacuees of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

To help expedite the availability of housing, the Orange County Rescue Mission will be accelerating the completion of the residential section of their nationally recognized, comprehensive Village of Hope project on Tustin Legacy, the former Tustin Marine Corps Air Station. The Village of Hope is currently working with the City of Tustin and other government agencies to bring the former Marine barracks up to code to provide temporary housing.
